Varsity Head Coach Bob Caton

A familiar figure on the local sidelines for 44 years, 38 as a head coach, Caton, a man with 516 victories, is in his second season heading the Mustangs. Beginning at Manual in 1976, he also has been the head coach at Denver West, George Washington, Aurora Central and Highlands Ranch. As well, Caton has experience coaching baseball, cross country and football, and has coached on other levels of basketball. A winner of various coaching awards, Caton was a star player at Denver West High School as well as captain and MVP of the Colorado State team. All told, Caton-coached teams have been state runners-up twice, and made six final fours and 14 Great 8s. They also have won seven league championships. Caton is retired from teaching and lives near the school.

Varsity Assistant Coaches

Rob Caton

All-Denver Prep League at George Washington, the younger Caton also played at Northern Colorado. He has assisted with his father at GW, Aurora Central and Highlands Ranch, and is in his second season with the Mustangs.

Chris Crosby

An outstanding player who’s in his second stint as an assistant at Mullen, Crosby also was with Caton at Highlands Ranch. As a player, Crosby’s accomplishments rank highly in state annals: 1996 Mr. Colorado Basketball; state runner-up in the Class 5A state tournament the same year while playing at Chatfield in Littleton; Nike and BCI All-American; three-year starter at Washington State, where he finished eighth in career scoring; and he played six years professionally in NBA D League, USBL, Poland Australia, Greece, Norway and Portugal.

Arlandus Lowe

Another familiar figure on Colorado benches, Lowe headed Overland in Aurora for more than two decades and led the team to the big-school final in 1990. He has been a longtime assistant with Caton at multiple stops and his vast knowledge and easy demeanor have been well-received.

Ray Valdez

All-Denver Prep League at Abraham Lincoln, Valdez assisted at Abraham Lincoln with his brother, Vince, and Denver East, under local legend Rudy Carey, and was head coach at Denver West. He also has mentored players who have gone on to the NBA. Valdez is in his first season with the Mustangs.

Mark Quinn

All-Denver Prep League at Denver South, Quinn has coached multiple teams the last five years with the Gold Crown Foundation and in various club-team tournaments.

Feeder Team Head Coach, Grades 2-8

Domonic Martinez

A former all-stater at Lutheran in West Denver, Martinez went on to Western State, where he was all-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for two seasons. He played professionally in Mexico before returning to Denver to teach at multiple stops, including at Abraham Lincoln High as an assistant principal and athletic director. He is in is second season with the Mustangs.
