The sport for Colorado girls was first instituted in 1970 and officially sanctioned with team championships in 1975. It has turned into an exclusive club. Mullen, which added a girls team in the early 1990s, has won two state championships and stands tied for fourth with Niwot and Peak to Peak on the all-time list. The Mustangs compete in Class 4A. The new Season D will last seven weeks -- regular season begins on April 29; a total of nine dual matches; regionals to be completed by June 3; state championships June 11-12.
