Fall practice set to begin

The 2019-20 scholastic sports year begins today, Aug. 12, wih the first day of fall practice.

For Mullen, it entails boys and girls cross country, football, boys golf, boys soccer, softball, boys tennis and volleyball. The Mustangs do not field fill teams for field hockey and gymnastics.

Preseason practice will last into Aug. 22, when play will begin in earnest, but there also will be a few early starts.

As usual, Mustangs boys golfers will be first up – they will participate in the Cherry Creek Invitational on Tuesday at Buffalo Run Golf Course in Commerce City, a Centennial League meet on Thursday at Meadow Hills G.C. in Aurora, and another league meet on Aug. 21 at South Suburban G.C. in Centennial.

First dates for others: Aug 22, boys tennis, at Air Academy, 3:30 p.m.; and softball, at Chatfield, 4 p.m.; Aug. 23, boys soccer, vs. Elizabeth, 4 p.m.; Aug. 24, boys and girls cross country, at Englewood, 8 a.m.; Aug. 27, volleyball, vs. Dakota Ridge, 6:30 p.m.; and Aug. 29, football, at Far Northeast, 7 p.m.
