Emergency Remote Learning Week SEVEN - Hope Is Not Cancelled
Last Days of School and Finals

We are rapidly approaching the end of the year. Though this end of this year will look different from any of the ends of years any of us have experienced in the past, it is still coming...

By now, teachers have likely spoken with their classes about finals. We will not have Final Exams as we have traditionally given them in the past. Rather, teachers have been creating final assessments, projects or less expansive tests to conclude this academic year. These will not be given on previously scheduled exam days but, rather, will be (or already have been) assigned over the course of the next few days. These finals will be worth no more than 10% of a students’ grade.

The last day of school for seniors is Thursday, May 14, 2020.

The last day of school for everyone else is Thursday, May 21, 2020.

As I noted last week, we have plans to celebrate our seniors and all of our students as we approach the end of the year!

My Class
I am not sure I have ever been more grateful to be teaching a class than I have been this past trimester. Though I only got to spend 8 in-person days with the sophomores I have in English II B, I have truly enjoyed being “with”them this tri. I have enjoyed the work of planning and reaching out over the ether of the internet. I have enjoyed the connections we’ve been able to make. I have enjoyed the challenge. Though I surely wish I had been able to see them each day, I can say that this class is a class I will NEVER forget!

Timely Updates

Teacher Appreciation Week
We are so blessed at Mullen High School to have an amazing staff of teachers and staff who work so very hard for our students. They are caring and committed and tireless. I have been, as I have noted time and again in these pages, so humbled and impressed by them and their work during these intense days. As we conclude Teacher Appreciation Week, I say a prayer of thanksgiving for them. THEY are Mullen!

And I am also grateful to all of those on MPA who helped celebrate our teachers this week! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Have terrific weekends!

Peace,
