Choi, Zingler again lead 'Stangs

Senior goes 5-under par, junior is 1-under as Mullen takes runner-up as a team in Centennial League Tournament No 4.
 
AURORA -- Another high-end showing for Mullen girls golf …

The Mustangs had the top-two individuals and finished in second place as a team in Centennial League Tournament No. 4 at Aurora Hills Golf Course.

Sofia Choi was first at 5-under-par 68 and Kaitlin Zingler turned in 1-under 72 for a second runner-up for the week. She was second in Monday’s Bruin Invitational at nearby CommonGround G.C..

A senior, Choi, went 34-34 with three birdies on each side. She had only two 5s on her scorecard.

A junior, Zingler fired a 4-under 33 on the front with four of her five birdies before coming home in 39.

Freshmen Riley Sullivan tied for 16th with 87 and Sammy Yates was 18th at 88.

Head coach Kate Walker said she couldn’t recall having all four Mustangs players who scored in the team chase shoot less than 90.

Teamwise, Mullen totaled 315 to Cherokee Trail’s winning 310.

Mullen will compete in the Ashley Foray Memorial Invitational at Rolling Hills Country Club in Golden on Monday, May 2, and the final Centennial League meet, No. 5, at Meadow Hills G.C. in Aurora on Thursday, May 5.
