Ambitious schedule for 2018 season is set

Softball sets tough schedule, incloudes Oklahoma trip.
New Mullen coach Alan Colglazier is eager to move forward in his new position.
And while off-season camps and workouts are being set, his team’s schedule for 2018, an ambitious campaign, also is under control.
The Mustangs will open the season on Aug. 14 at Holy Family in Broomfield. Additional nonleague highlights include hosting rival Regis Jesuit, 4:30 p.m.; participating in the always high-end Erie Tournament from Aug. 30-Sept. 1; and, perhaps the highlight of the regular season, an interesting and demanding road trip to Bixby Okla., from Sept. 6-8.
Centennial League action for the Mustangs will begin on Sept. 20 at home against Cherry Creek of Greenwood Village.
Class 4A regionals will be completed by Oct. 13 and the 16-team state tournament will be Oct. 19-20 at the Aurora Sports Park.
A year ago, the Mustangs were 16-9 overall, 4-3 in league, and advanced to the state semifinals. They fell to eventual state champion Mountain View of Loveland.
