3-0 week lifts Mustangs

Mullen rallied with a 3-0 week and got back on track in Centennial League softball.
All victories were against teams in Aurora. The Mustangs beat Smoky Hill 7-3 on Tuesday; earned an 8-3 road victory at Cherokee Trail on Friday; and spanked Overland 10-0 on Saturday.
The Mustangs improved to 10-6 overall, 3-2 in league, and have won 10 of their past 12 Centennial games. A year ago, they were league champions.
Against Smoky Hill, Jessica Hafey had a triple, a walk, two runs scored and three RBIs.
In the Cherokee Trail victory, the Mustangs built an 8-1 lead to take command and Saturday’s triumph against the Trailblazers took only five innings after the Mustangs built a 5-0 lead in the first inning.
Mullen is in the final week of the regular season. Next up: home versus Centennial’s Arapahoe on Tuesday, first pitch at 4:15 p.m. The Mustangs will wrap up the league season on Wednesday in Aurora at Grandview, 4 p.m., then complete its 19-game schedule on Friday, 4 p.m., at Air Academy, a nonleaguer.
Class 4A regional pairings will be determined on Oct. 9.
