Hafey, Sanchez kift Mustangs past Smoky Hill

7-3 win levels league mark at 2-2.
Marissa Sanchez pitched a complete game and led Mullen with two hits as the Mustangs handled Smoky Hill 7-3 on Tuesday.
The Centennial League victory lifted Mullen to an 8-6 overall mark, 2-2 in league. The visiting Buffaloes of Aurora dipped to 9-6, 2-2.
The Mustangs used a four-run fourth inning to take command. Overall, they were outhit 8-7 by the Buffaloes, but Jessica Hafey’s 3-RBI triple was big as well as decisive.
Hafey also scored twice and Sanchez added two singles. Bella Hawkins contributed a double. Hawkins, Emma DiGiacomo and Sanchez had RBIs. Mullen also took advantage of seven walks.
Sanchez was touched for a couple of runs late, but she struck out two and survived walking four.
