Mustangs win 4-0.
Mullen’s skid in ice hockey ended.
The Mustangs beat Kent Denver 4-0 on Friday night at the University of Denver’s Joy Burns Arena. In snapping an 0-3-2 stretch, Mullen improved to 9-6-2 overall, 3-5-1 in the Highlands Conference and tied with the Sun Devils.
Utah Bryant and Eoin Canavan each scored twice as the Mustangs now have their most victories since going 10-9-1 in the 2012-13 season.
Bryant scored the game’s first two goals, the second in the opening minutes of the second period, and Canavan made it 3-0 on a penalty shot at 13:38 of the middle period. His second goal came at 1:14 of the third. J.C. Carter and Truman Boettiger had assists.
Once again, Mustangs junior goalie Connor Mahon was strong, stopping all 41 shots – the Mustangs generated just 22 – including 35 over the final two periods.
The Mustangs’ third game in three days will be Saturday, 6:30 p.m., against Heritage at South Suburban. The Eagles sit second in the conference.
