LAKEWOOD – Year I of Mullen’s new track and field coaches has produced some results.

With Mustangs alumni Thal Woods (boys) and Caitlin Able (girls) in command, the move to inspire improved participation is on and was capped Saturday at Jefferson County Stadium in the Class 4A portion of the Colorado meet.

For boys, senior Matt Veen shared eighth place in the high jump on Friday and was followed by junior Aidan Keanaaina on Saturday as he placed sixth in the shot put, 46 feet, 6.5 inches.

It was even better in girls and produced an event winner – freshman Agur Dwol claimed the triple jump, negotiating 37-2.

And in sprints, sophomore Kaleah Mitchell-Ruff finished second in the 100 meters (12.40 seconds) and senior Lauren Cox (12.43) was third.
Ruff, Cox, Kate Rowland and Elizabeth Bixenman also made the 400 relay final, but did not finish.
