No. 2 doubls advances i girls tennis.
Mullen’s No. 2 doubles team of Abby Gilbert-Rebecca Watts won a playback match on Friday to advance to Colorado’s Class 4A girls tennis tournament.

Gilbert-Watts downed a team from Denver North to qualify and join the rest of the Mustangs team in full force that will be in Pueblo on Thursday for the beginning of the three-day season finale.

The lineup for the Mustangs at singles is Lauren Manwiller (No. 1), Mikayla Phelps (No. 2) and Megan Sandy (No. 3); and at doubles, Jordan Cleary-Bella Wallrath (No. 1), Gilbert-Watts (No. 2), Chloe Golenzer-Tierney Scanlan (No. 3) and Brooklyn Hanley-Parker Durand (No. 4).

Also on Friday, Mustangs baseball dropped a 13-11 decision in the Centennial League on the road in Aurora.

Mullen will be back at it on Saturday, 11 a.m., at home at Bill Swift Field to host Smoky Hill in league.

And in girls soccer, the Mustangs won 3-0 at Brighton in nonleague. Jaime DeBerardinis, Jade Garcia and Kaylah Wanna had the goals.
DeBerardinis, Anna Seaman and Julianna Zinis had the assists.

Mullen improved to 11-2-1 and will wrap up its regular season on Saturday at Northridge in Greeley, 11 a.m.
