Girls soccer hit the road on Monday and came away with an 8-0 defeat of host Manitou Springs in a nonleague match.

The Class 4A Mustangs won their fourth consecutive match and improved to 7-1-1. They led 5-0 at halftime and cruised.

Manitou Springs, now 5-5-1 in 3A, came up with 18 shots on goal, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

It’s a four-match week for Mullen – it also will take on Overland on Tuesday, 8 p.m., at the Stutler Bowl in Greenwood Village in the Centennial League; will host always good Arapahoe on Thursday, 4;30 p.m., also in league; and will have a Friday meeting in nonleague against Jefferson County’s Dakota Ridge, 7 p.m., at Lakewood Memorial Field.

In girls golf, freshman Sofia Choi shot a 5-over-par 76 to tie for eighth place in Cherry Creek’s Bruin Invitational at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora.

Choi went 38-38 and had back-to-back birdies on Nos. 14 and 15 to tie with Colorado Academy’s Eva Pett.

Regis Jesuit’s Kate Berrian finished first with a 1-over 72.

Teamwise, Mullen was 10th of the dozen schools in the field. The Mustangs ended plus-71. Junior Paige Sowitch (plus-29), senior Jessica Bryan
(plus-37) and sophomore Elle Deorio (plus-41) also were in the scoring mix.
