Mullen 2nd in 1st league meet

Mustangs place 3 in the top 10 at Meadow Hills G.C.
Behind Rhett Johnson, Mullen was second at the opening Centennial League match of 2019.

The Mustangs tied with Arapahoe at 40-over par, five strokes behind Cherry Creek, the winner at Meadow Hills Golf Course in Aurora.

Johnson shot 8-over 78, going 38-40 with just one birdie, on the 494-yard par-5 No. 10.

Mario Dino was a stroke back at 79 (39-40), with birdies on the 147-yard par-3 No. 4 and the par-4 11th.

And another stroke back was senior Eli Marquez (40-40). He birdied the 495-yard par-5 No. 6.

Thomas Hicks and Cole Reister each came in at 83.

Johnson tied for fifth, Dino ninth and Marquez 10th. Hicks and Reister tied for 13th.

Medalist was Cherry Creek’s Cody Kuptz (73).

Next for the Mustangs is the second league meet of the season, Aug. 21 at South Suburban G.C.
