Dudzic grabs eighth to head boys; O'Connell again tops Mustangs girls.
Once again, Michael Dudzic and Amy O’Connell are at the front of Mullen cross country.

Competing at the always very crowded and very loaded Liberty Bell Invitational hosted by Heritage in Littleton, the two Mustangs, as they have done throughout the early season, led their teams.

Plus, it was a strong day all around for Mullen.

According to head coach Joe Welling, all but two Mustangs "set their season-best times. So almost 97 percent of the (Mustangs) ran their fastest so far.... pretty cool when that happens."

In boys, Dudzic, a junior, finished in eighth place in the Division II race, recording 16 minutes, 24.80 seconds.

Senior Will Locascio was 31st (17.17.90). He was followed by sophomore Jack Tolbert (58th, 17:53.80), sophomore Owen McCarter (62nd, 17:54.60) and senior Jonathan Egan (87th, 18:26.50).

Dudzic also led the Mustangs to eighth (246) among teams. Cheyenne Central, Wyo. (95) was first and Evergreen senior Colin Szuch the individual winner (15:29.40).

For girls, O’Connell was 18th in a well-rounded 20:20.30. She was followed by sophomore Alicia Muller (61st, 21:41.90), freshman Octavia Gomez (67th, 21.57.0), senior Madison Wainscoat (85th, 22:32.60) and Emma Hehn (87th, 22:40.60).

As a team, Mullen girls were 13th (318). Tops was Glenwood Springs (63), which also had the top two individuals, headed by sophomore Ella Johnson (18:15.30.
