Mullen’s Alina Antillon will again head abroad for freestyle wrestling.

The sophomore will join the Swamp Monsters Wrestling Club out of Sacramento, Calif., for a tournament in Tokyo, Japan.

Antillon said she has been to Japan, Singapore and Vietnam for training, but this will be the first time she competes.

“It’s a pretty tightknit group,” she said. “I’m super-excited and can’t wait to go.”

Mullen’s first-ever female wrestling champion the past season – she won at 136 pounds – Antillon will compete in Japan at 132 pounds.

Over the summer, she said, she competed in freestyle in multiple states and appreciates the opportunity to try what she has learned internationally.

She’ll leave on Monday, Oct. 14, and return on Thursday, Oct. 24.
