Aidan Keanaaina

High school sport: Football (defensive line, All-Colorado 2018 by Mile High Sports Magazine; considering shot put in the spring); committed to Notre Dame.

What I’ve done lately: Took over the team lead in tackles with 52 total through six weeks, also led in tackles for loss (7.0).

Grade-point average: 4.12.

Class: Senior.
Why I attend Mullen: I shadowed a lot of different high schools, trying to get a good idea of one better than my feeder school (Brighton) for academics and sports and community. And the thing about all of it is the community, the student body, the faculty and the kind of people I wanted were at Mullen.

The best thing about my sport: The ability for 11 guys on the field to work together to achieve a goal.

In my future: After senior year, I head up to Notre Dame on June 14 … I have a full scholarship, undecided on a major … I’m going to go and do testing and see what I get a feel for

Pre-Game ritual: Every home game, I’ve done the same ritual since freshman year. After Chapel, I eat, go to the locker room, walk around our football practice field, don’t touch the actual lines, then in the corner where the houses are with the fences and our baseball field, I say a prayer and have a conversation about the week with God, walk around the rest of the field, get back in the locker room, get taped up, have to get dressed alone (I borrow keys and go into a private bathroom), and just report for the game.

Favorite college team: Notre Dame football.

Why I play: Ever since I was born, I’ve loved football, loved watching it. For some people, where they look to be calm and feel happy, this is my happy place. It’s when I’m out on the field. I just love the sport so much and how many opportunities it has given me in my life. I’m so thankful for that.
