Hot shots: Mustangs pinned by Heritage

LITTLETON -- Shell-shocked?

Just about.

Mullen dropped a 3-0 decision to Heritage on Friday night at The Edge Ice Arena and the loss in the Highlands Conference probably came with one of the better conundrums in sports statistical data.

The Mustangs were outshot 49-5 by the Eagles. Mullen had no shots on goal in the first period, one in the second and four in the third.

Credit Mustangs senior goalie Connor Mahon for keeping it close. He faced at least 14 shots in each frame, including 20 in the middle. He gave up a goal in each period, all at even strength.

Both teams were 0-of-7 on the power play.

Mullen is 2-6 overall, 0-4 in conference. Heritage is 7-2 and sits atop the Highlands at 4-0. The Eagles have won four games in succession.

The back-to-back series will continue Saturday, 6:30 p.m., at South Suburban Ice Arena.
