Claire Mochan

High school sport: Swimming (50- and 100-yard freestyles, and 200 medley and 200 free relays) and lacrosse (attack).

What I’ve done lately:
Qualified for the Class 4A state meet in the 50 free, her first time, and will attempt to qualify in the 100 free this weekend at the Centennial League meet at Arapahoe on Saturday.

Grade-point average:
4.3.

Class:
Junior.

Why I attend Mullen: I really like the community at Mullen and I feel like everyone there also wants to be there. It’s a fun place to be and everyone’s supportive.

The best thing about my sports:
Swimming is more of an individual sport, you’re competing with yourself, and lacrosse has the team aspect. I like the combination that I have.

In my future:
I definitely want to go to school out of state, probably on the East Coast and study psychology or neuroscience.

Pre-Game ritual:
Not really … usually for swimming, our coach (Susan Stone) gives us a warmup and there’s nothing ritual for lacrosse. I just get ready mentally.

Favorite college team:
No favorite.

Why I play:
I guess I really enjoy challenging myself both mentally and physically with both sports and it has a good social aspect for me. I meet new people and teammates, and relationships are important to me. It’s something I can put my time into other than school.
