Spring! Season No. 3 begins Monday

Seven sports will run into the end of 2019-20 school year.
 
Spring, the third season on the annual high-school docket, will be sprung today (March 2) for the opening day of preseason practice.

As usual, the season notorious for all kinds of delays and postponements because of Colorado’s fickle spring weather will also deal with overlap of winter playoffs as well as various springs breaks and graduation.

But baseball, girls golf, boys and girls lacrosse, girls soccer, boys swimming and diving, girls tennis, and boys and girls track and field are primed for opening day.
Here are dates to keep in mind:

--- Baseball: Class 5A preseason begins March 2; regular season begins March 12; regular season ends May 19; regionals May 22-23; Championship Series May 29-30 and June 5-6, All-City Field.

--- Girls golf: 4A preseason begins March 2; regular season begins March 5; regionals May 4-8; state tournament May 18-19, Colorado National Golf Club, Erie.

--- Boys and girls lacrosse: preseason begins March 2, girls one class, boys in 5A; regular season begins March 12; regular season ends May 9; playoffs begin May 13; 5A boys championship May 26, University of Denver, girls March 27, DU.  

--- Girls soccer: 4A preseason begins March 2; regular season begins March 12; regular season ends May 9; playoffs begin May 13; championship May 28, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Commerce City.

--- Boys swimming and diving: 4A preseason begins March 2; regular season begins March 12; Centennial League ‘A’ championships May 15-16, Smoky Hill, Aurora; state championships May 21-22, Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center, Thornton.

--- Girls tennis: 4A preseason begins March 2; regular season begins March 5; regular season ends May 1; regionals to be completed by May 9; state tournament Pueblo City Park, May 14-16.

--- Boys and girls track and field: 4A preseason begins March 2; regular season begins March 12; regular season ends May 16; Jefferson County Stadium, Lakewood, May 21-23.
