Football foes in line

Mustangs' 2020 schedule set -- 4 new nonleague opponents, Regis Jesuit and another league round against Jefferson County.
 
The lineup of Mullen’s 2020 opponents in football is set.

Six of the 10 foes from 2019 are on the current slate, the final five the same as the Mustangs will continue in the Class 5A Metro West League that contains Jefferson County teams.

Of the five nonleague foes for new head coach Jeremy Bennett and his staff, parochial-rival Regis Jesuit remains on the schedule, but newbies include Cherokee Trail, Legend, Valor Christian and Eaglecrest.

Mullen regularly faces Cherokee Trail and Eaglecrest in other sports as it's in the Centennial League and the Mustangs are 2-2 against Valor, the only in-state team in 5A with a nonlosing record agsinst the powerful Eagles..

Week 1, Aug. 28, Cherokee Trail.

Bennett, who said he still has a couple of openings to fill on his staff, also said he’s looking forward to the season and is hopeful restrictions from the coronavirus (COVID-19) will be modified or lifted.
