“Did you ever have a feeling about some place and you think, ‘This is it?’ That was me when I was down there.”

So stated Cole Reister on Wednesday. The Mullen senior golfer made if official – he signed with Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. He’ll be with the Gators in mid-August.

“I was really impressed with their facilities,” Reister said, noting the program’s simulators.

Plus, Reister said he isn’t “a huge sun guy. I like the cold. And they had 214 inches of snow this year.”

A key part of an inner core that revitalized the Mullen program over the past three seasons, Reister qualified for the Class 4A tournament from 2017-19, put up a few individual victories, such as a season-opening gathering at Buffalo Run Golf Course as a junior, and took his turns with teammates leading the group. His best score is 69 at Lakewood’s Fox Hollow G.C. His home course is Lakewood Country Club.

A scratch player who has been working on his game when he can during the coronavirus (COVID-19), Reister has a 3.96 grade-point average and plans to major in business (finance and marketing).

The Gators are Division III and Reister called the campus “a great place.”

Ultimately, Reister added he wouldn’t mind being able to compete for the Gators for a couple of seasons before possibly moving on to Penn State.
