Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2020

Dear Parents and Graduates of the Class of 2020,

Graduation will take place on our school campus at De La Salle Stadium at Mullen High School on July 14, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.  We believe that this option allows for the largest number of people and also provides space for social distancing.

In making this decision our first and most important goal is to honor our graduates.  We believe that processing to the tune of Pomp and Circumstance, walking across a stage to receive a diploma and the applause and finality of a job well done, are extremely important.  We also want to provide our students the opportunity to graduate as a class, together.

In consideration of health and safety, the number of guests must be limited to parents, step-parents and guardians only.  The event will be live streamed on the Mullen Facebook Page so that all can attend virtually.  All attending live, including the graduates, will be required to wear a mask.  If you believe you or your graduate have a fever or are sick that day, we ask that you remain at home.

All graduates who are not attending in person will receive a zoom link via their Mullen email, so that they can participate virtually.  Every graduate’s name will be called and a picture of each, wearing a cap and gown will be shown on screen, even if they are not present.  Students who cannot attend will receive their diplomas in the mail shortly after graduation.  This is a reminder that students’ photos must be sent to niblack@mullenhigh.com.

There will be a photographer who will take pictures of the graduates during the ceremony and while each graduate receives his/her diploma.  These pictures will be uploaded to the web with a link so that they can be downloaded.  There is no cost for these pictures.

This event will take place regardless of the weather.  Please bring appropriate gear such as umbrellas and jackets.  All families will sit in the bleachers, and students will sit on the field.  Only severe weather will impact graduation.

There will be no other events (prom, retreat, or yearbook signing) that weekend, due to social distancing regulations still in effect. There will be no graduation rehearsal, so students will get all instructions when they arrive for graduation that Tuesday.

Students must arrive on campus by 5 p.m. on July 14 and report to the Spirit Center.  Follow the signs to the location assigned, based on last name.  All students should wear comfortable shoes in order to process across the field.  Clothing should be business casual, and cap and gown must also be worn, with other cords and stole received, and worn based on instructions included in your graduation bag.  No embellishments to cap or gown are allowed.

Gates will open for family seating at 5:15 and the stadium will be marked for social distancing.

This is subject to change, only if new regulations for staying at home are issued.  In the meantime we need a very specific list of who will be attending so we can plan for the appropriate social distancing.  Please complete the form below to tell us the names of adults attending graduation.  In order to assure the safety of all who are attending, we will not allow guests who have not been pre-registered and whose names are not on the list.  Tickets will be mailed one week before the event, so please be sure to complete the form by July 7.
