AURORA – In another blowout, Mullen easily toppled Overland 88-10 on Friday night.

In improving to 9-2 overall and in the Centennial League, the Mustangs inched closer to the Class 4A playoffs by registering 34- and 28-point quarters, holding the 5A undermanned Trailblazers to a scoreless opening quarter and one-point first half, and scoring at least 78 points for the fifth time in their past nine games.

Coach Frank Cawley indicated junior Gracie Gallegos continued her special season and senior Elaina Martinez, a guard, had her best outing in 2021.

Gallegos led all scorers with 20 points. Martinez added 16. Each had four 3-pointers. Imani Perez scored 12 points and Haley Van Horn 11. The Mustangs made a dozen 3-pointers

The Mustangs will wrap up their regular season next week with three games in five days – Tuesday, March 2, home against Cherokee Trail; Thursday, March 4 at Eaglecrest; and Saturday, March 6 home against Arapahoe. All tip-offs will be at 7:15 p.m.
