Davison tops 'Stangs' efforts in league finale

Junior second in 2 races; Mullen places 5th in Centennial League meet; 4A championships are next.
 
AURORA – Mullen finished fifth in Saturday’s completion of the very talented Centennial League Championships held at Smoky Hill.

The Mustangs were led by Chase Davison, a junior who has comitted to Texas. She was runner-up in both the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 54.62 seconds) and 100 backstroke (57.86).

Cherry Creek won the meet with 554 points. Mullen’s fifth-place total was 445 in the eight-team field.

The Mustangs next will head to Friday’s Class 4A championships to be held at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton.

Diving – 21. Romie Gutierrez, 233.25.

100 butterfly – 13. Elizabeth Davison, 1:01.74.

100 freestyle – 7. Claire Chahbandour, 54.31.

200 freestyle relay – 6. (Gabrielle Zinis, Claire Chahbandour, Lindsey Sowitch, Chase Davison), 1:42.81.

100 backstroke – 2. Chase Davison, 57.86.

100 breaststroke – 7. Charlotte Burnham, 1:06.10.

400 frestyle relay – 8. (Charlotte Burnham, Sahara Zurita, Lindsey Sowitch, Chase Davison), 3:41.25.
