Senior defenseman Aidan Cashman leads 8 Mullen ice hockey players in all-state, all-league selections.

Headed by Aidan Cashman, Mullen had multiple players named to the All-Colorado, Class 4A all-state and all-league teams announced on Tuesday.

Cashman, a senior defenseman, was one of four defenders and 12 selected to the All-Colorado team.

“It’s pretty cool,” Mustangs head coach Devon Brady said. “We enjoy seeing our kids recognized and selected to these teams, and it’s warranted.”

Cashman was part of a Mullen defense that returned intact to the 2020-21 team. He also was named to the 4A all-state group first team.

Concerning all-league for the 4A North, Cashman and Klem were first team. Senior defenseman Eoin Canavan was second team.

Honorable mention all-league for Mullen: Nick Gilbert, senior forward; Larry Simons, senior forward; Riley Watters, senior forward; Robby Witwer, senior forward; and Logan Clouthier, freshman goalie.

Mullen was 7-3 in the past Season B, a newer period, and missed the playoffs by about the width of a skate blade as after its 6-5 victory over Colorado Academy, a CA player tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).  Mullen was quarantined and it negated ensuing Mustangs’ games against Liberty and Rampart.

The Mustangs had actually appeared in good shape in two of the three categories to qualify for the postseason before falling short in the coaches poll.

All three Mullen losses were to Kent Denver by an aggregate 12-7.
