6-1 Mullen opens the new Centennial League tournament against (7) Smoky Hill on Tuesday; mini-bracket to cap the regular season and figure into playoff field.

Mullen, which is tied for the Centennial League title with Grandview, is seeded second for the new regular-season-ending league tournament that will begin on Tuesday.

The Mustangs (6-1) will host (7) Smoky Hill to open the tournament on Tuesday, 4:30 p.m.

The three-game tournament and shortened season are a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the new Season C. The eight teams (seven are in Class 5A; Mullen is in 4A) have faced each other once and will rematch some rounds to cap the regular season at 10 games.

Mullen, which is coming off three matches in three days, beat Smoky Hill 4-3 the past Saturday.

The Mustangs, who also lead the league in scoring with 25 goals, and Buffaloes are in the bottom portion of the bracket with (6) Overland-(3) Cherry Creek. At the top are (8) Cherokee Trail-(1) Grandview and (5) Eaglecrest-(4) Arapahoe. Ensuing rounds, winners and consolation, will be Thursday and Saturday.

The postseason will begin on April 20.
