Girls tennis stays undefeated; girls soccer loses in 2OT; girls lacrosse falls to Fairview.
Lauren Manwiller dropped her first match of the season, but Mullen swept the rest of the singles and doubles to remain undefeated with a 6-1 victory over Smoky Hill on Thursday at Pinehurst Country Club.
Manwiller, a senior and considered a serious contender for the Class 4A No. 1 singles title, also had been undefeated before losing 6-3, 6-4 to the Buffaloes’ Valerie Negin, a senior who won the 5A crown two years ago as a sophomore (there was no season in 2020 because of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic).
Mullen moved to 8-0 overall on the season, 5-0 in the Centennial League.
Mustangs singles players Alexia Yost and Marin Smith, and doubles groups of Parker Durand-Brooklyn Hanley, Izzy Desjardins-Tierney Scanlan, Madeline Crites-Aubryanne Leugers and Clara Dailey-Renee Hoyt all won in straight sets.
Mullen heads into next week, the final of the regular season, with a make-up match on Monday, May 24, at Cherry Creek, 3:30 p.m.

The Mustangs dropped a home match in league to the Raptors that required two extra sessions.
Mattea Parsons, Anna Seaman and Izzy Turner scored for Mullen. The Mustangs’ Brooklyn Rich had an assist.
Mullen managed 15 shots, 12 on goal.
Sophomore Olivia Incitti turned in 12 saves.
Now 1-4 overall and in league, Mullen will be at Arapahoe on Tuesday, May 25, 4:30 p.m.
Eaglecrest is 4-1, 4-1.

FAIRVIEW 16, MULLEN 6
The Mustangs, continuing against a demanding schedule, lost at home in league to the Knights.
It was Mullen’s second consecutive setback. It is 1-4 overall, 0-3 in the new 5A East League.
Fairview, ranked fifth, is 6-0 overall and atop the league at 4-0.
Molly Gilbert scored three times for Mullen. Charlie Beck, Elise Bialecki and Haley Vanek added goals. Beck, Maya Dammen and Gilbert had assists.
The Mustangs will be at Arapahoe in Centennial on Monday, May 24, 6 p.m., in league.
