'Stangs boot past Smoky Hill

Vezaani's hat trick lifts Mullen to a road victory; 'Stangs at Arapahoe next.
 
AURORA -- Mullen earned its second victory in 2021 and Kate Vezzani scored a hat trick in a 10-0 decision of host Smoky Hill on Monday.

The Mustangs, who led 3-0 at halftime, moved to 2-4 overall and in the Centennial League. Smoky Hill is 0-4, 0-3.

Vezzani, a freshman, led the scoring parade with her three goals. Senior Anna Seaman added two and Grace Brouillette, Katy DeNezza, Ella Grace, Mattea Parsons and Kendall Smith each had one.

Sophomore Keelee Rakowski had three assists and Brooklyn Rich two. Brynn Konrad, Jill Kulbacki, Seaman, Smith and Vezzani all contributed one.

Keeper Olivia Incitti turned in three saves.

The Mustangs will be at Arapahoe on Tuesday, May 25, 4:30 p.m., to complete the regular season. The eight Centennial teams will then be seeded into a three-match bracket to determine a league tournament champion.
