Valor Christian beats Mullen 22-3 in nonleague; Mustangs dip to 3-5.
 
Mullen was beaten 22-3 by Valor Christian in nonleague on Friday night at Brother Bernard Kinneavy Field at De La Salle Stadium.

The loss dropped the Mustangs to 3-5 overall. They had won their previous two matches. No. 3 Valor Christian, which has lost only to five-time-defending Colorado champion Colorado Academy (by 15-12), is 4-1.

The Eagles grabbed the early lead, held it and ran away – they led 16-2 at halftime.

Senior Molly Gilbert scored twice for Mullen. Sophomore J.J. Johnson added the other team’s score.

Valor Christian had 26 shots on goal to Mullen’s five.

Mustangs keeper Lauren Krager managed four saves.

Mullen will be idle until Thursday, June 3, when it will face Grandview in Aurora, 6 p.m., in the Class 5A East League.
