'Stangs' streak halted by Rangers

Mullen falls to Lewis-Palmer 13-11; 6-match winning streak is over; L-P takes command of league.
 
MONUMENT – Tough loss for Mullen on Wednesday – the Mustangs fell to undefeated Lewis-Palmer 13-11.

The setback snapped the Mustangs’ six-match winning streak. They are 6-2 overall, 4-1 in the new Class 5A No. 1 League. Lewis-Palmer is 9-0, 6-0.

The Mustangs trailed much of the match and the Rangers made their biggest move in the second quarter, when they put up six goals.

Brandon Hane and Keegan Quinn each scored three goals for Mullen. Noah Wanja turned in 19 saves.

Mullen will resume play on Friday, when it will host Douglas County at 6 p.m. in league, and on Saturday with a nonleaguer against Rangeview, also at 6 p.m.

The Mustangs are assured of their best record since 2016.
