'Stangs set for final day

Dwol, Mitchell-Ruff, relays are Mullen's final events in track and field of a very different 2020-21 sports year,
 
LAKEWOOD – Heading into Saturday’s final events of the Colorado Championships for track and field, Mullen sits sixth in the team standings with numerous possibilities for improvement.

During Friday’s events at Jefferson County Stadium that were marred and delayed by the recent inclement weather, the Mustangs had a second-place finish and advancement to the finals for another.

Mullen’s 800-meter relay of Mikaela Henderson, Kaleah Mitchell-Ruff, Paige Lousberg and Agur Dwol was runner-up to meet-leading Niwot in 1 minute, 44.21 seconds.

The Mustangs’ four also qualified for Saturday’s 400 relay finale. On Friday, their 1,600 relay group failed to make the finals.

Concerning Saturday, Mitchell-Ruff enters as the favorite for the 100 meters and she had the second-best qualifying time in the 200.

As well, Dwol, the defending Colorado champion in the triple jump, will have the opportunity to make it two in a row and she has her sights set on more than 42 feet.
