Mullen has 12 early signees in a half-dozen sports; impressive group chose outstanding colleges; has a combined 3.77 GPA and terrific character.
 
Mullen came up with another 12 reasons why it’s important and, well, good to be a student-athlete.

Twelve Mustangs put their signatures on letters-of-intent on Wednesday, the first of multiple signing periods throughout the school year.

In addition to exceptional prowess in a half-dozen sports, the group also had a combined grade-point average of 3.77 as well as outstanding character.

The list:

--- Isabella Grace Aragon signed for softball at Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction.

A speedy outfielder who was adept at handling center field, Aragon led the Class 5A-based Centennial League in batting (.542), piled up 39 hits and made the all-league team twice.

She also lettered twice with the 4A girls basketball team; National Honor Society; three-time Torch Award; subject awards in computer science and fit-for-life; Core Leader; Service Leader; and Garden Club.

She has a 3.8 grade-point average and will study hospitality management.

--- Charlie Elizabeth Beck signed for lacrosse at Chapman in Orange, Calif.

Three-time letter winner; all-league twice; Unsung Hero Award as a freshman; Mustangs MVP as a junior; 15 goals ands five assists for the midfielder.

Member of NHS; Core Leader; Student Ambassador; Lasallian Service Learning.

She has a 3.83 GPA and will study Business Administration.

--- Andrew John Brady signed for baseball at Colorado Mines in Golden.

The shortstop-third baseman is fresh from a terrific junior year in which he led the Mustangs in batting average (.466), runs (23), hits (27), doubles (nine) and runs batted (19). He also hit a late, dramatic grand slam to win a regional game. And he was all-Centennial.

He also played basketball briefly for the Mustangs and lettered as a junior on the 4A Colorado runner-up golf team.

Honor roll; Torch Award; Turning Point Mullen; Students for Life.

He has a 4.1 GPA and will study engineering.

--- Elisa Katrina Brear signed for cross country at Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa.

She came to Mullen as a senior from Monte Vista in Danville, Calif., where she was a top student and lettered twice each in cross country and track, and three times in basketball, where she was Team MVP. She was a Colorado qualifier for the 4A championships the past month and Mullen’s top finisher as the team rose to fifth place.

Honor roll; multiple AP classes; intern at Greenwood Village City Council; youth basketball coach; STEM and computer science mentor.

She has a 3.6 GPA and will study graphic design.

--- Chase Hall Davison signed for swimming with the Longhorns at Texas in Austin.

A transfer from Boulder, she is a three-time state champion, two in her junior year – 100-yard backstroke and the 200 freestyle relay. She also won the 200 free relay as a sophomore. Davison helped the Mustangs to second place in 4A the past season and competed at the Olympic Trials.

Pre-Calculus Subject Award; three-time USA Swimming All-Academic.

She has a 3.88 GPA and will study inesiology and applied sports movement.

--- Kilah Beatrice Freelon signed for basketball at Texas Tech in Lubbock.

She has two letters in basketball, where she’s also a two-time state champion, and a couple in track. All-league as a junior in basketball, her game has evolved dramatically, notably with her speed, jumping ability and finishing at the rim.

Also all-league in track, Freelon has made All-Academic twice.

Congress of Future Medical Leaders Award of Excellence; manager for the football team.

She has a 3.65 GPA and will study kinesiology with an emphasis on physical therapy and athletic training,

--- Gracie Kate Gallegos signed to play basketball at California-San Diego.

A three-time Colorado champion, she is all-league, all-state and arguably the top returning player in 4A.

A versatile player who’s effective outside as well as inside, she also has guarded the opposition’s top player since her first game as a freshman.

Torch Award; Academic All-State; Subject Awards in Biology and English.

She has a 4.15 GPA and is undecided on her major.

--- Owen Frank Marsh signed for baseball at St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn.

He will pitch for the Tommies and in 2020 led the Mustangs with five home runs while playing first base.

Three letters in baseball; played basketball for two seasons; helped the Mustangs to a Centennial title.

He has a 3.49 GPA and will study business real estate.

--- Trevor Sean Moore signed for baseball at Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif.

An infielder-pitcher, Moore has a chance to be Colorado’s top player in 2022. He batted .385 with three homers and 15 RBIs as he led Mullen to a 14-4 record and within a game of the 5A Championship Series. He was 5-1 on the mound with 43 strikeouts in 29.2 innings and was Centennial player of the year as well as all-state.

Social studies and Spanish NHS; Torch Award; Subject Awards in History, English, Spanish, Math, Advanced-Placement Government and Politics, and AP Physics.

Moore has a 4.38 GPA and is undecided on his major.

--- Imani Jolie Perez signed for basketball at Hawaii.

Another three-year starter, Perez is a two-time all-leaguer and has been a part of three championship teams.

Concerning her presence, she has been the main reason why Mullen has been able to play man-to-man defense the past three years and she has remained among the classification’s elite inside players.

Academic all-state; Black and Latino Club; helps with managing the football team.

Undecided on a major.

--- Henry Clayton Stewart signed for baseball at Santa Clara.

The pitcher-outfielder is a letterman, team captain and all-league. He batted .407 with 24 hits and 18 RBIs. On the mound, he was 3-2 with 32 strikeouts in 29.2 innings.

Torch Award; NHS.

He has a 4.0 GPA and will major in communications.

--- Haley Rae Vanek signed for lacrosse at nearby Regis.

The attack-midfielder lettered three times, scored seven goals and had an assist as a junior, and made all-league three times.

Three-year Torch Award recipient; NHS, including for Spanish; English Subject Award; Student Council; Kairos; Student Ambassador.

She has a 3.9 GPA and will major in biology.
