Fab 5 'Stangs 4th in Florence

Mullen takes 4th at the rugged Mel Smith Invitational; unique trip to a Kansas tourney is next.
 
Mullen’s considerable tournament results have continued – the Mustangs were fourth in the Mel Smith Invitational, totaling 130.5 points. Ahead were Centauri (171), Alamosa (140.6) and Eaton (135.5).

Saturday in rural Colorado, two Mustangs were champions among five placers.

Defending Class 3A 106-pound champion Dale O’Blia (26-0) and Mark Troni (160, 26-3) were bracket winners.

Noah Linares (132, 23-5) and Kaleb Valdez-Lemos (170, 25-4) were runners-up.

Gilbert Antillon (113, 21-7) was fourth.

Centauri is top-ranked in 2A by On The Mat. Mullen is tops in 3A with Eaton No. 2 and Alamosa No. 7.

The Mustangs will be in Overland Park, Kan., Friday-Saturday, Jan. 21-22, for the Blue Valley NW High Invitational, an impressive 21-team field.
