Heading into the 2022 season, Mullen head coach Jeremy Bennett is employing change to his football staff.

On Wednesday, Bennett, heading into his third year in command, announced Jeremy Heil as his team’s new defensive coordinator.

An excited Bennett said: “He brings a wealth of knowledge to the position and he coordinates from the back to forward, and that’s what you see on the next level.”

Heil is the father of current Mullen senior Jaxon Heil, an all-leaguer and all-stater the past season who led the team with 115 tackles.

Jeremy Heil had been Chatfield’s defensive backs coach and helped coordinate the Chargers defense, Bennett said.

The Chargers won the 4A championship in December.

Mullen will be in a new league next season with Brighton, Horizon, Legacy, Prairie View and Rangeview.
