Allison Schwertner, Student-Athlete of the Week

High-school sport:
Basketball (guard-forward).

What I’ve done lately:
Scored a career-high 16 points with three 3-pointers in Wednesday’s 65-35 whipping of Cherokee Trail as the Mustangs moved to 9-4 overall.

Grade-point average:
4.3.

Class:
Sophomore.

Why I attend Mullen:
I just had heard about it in my middle school that it was a great place and great for basketball. And a lot of my friends were going there.

The best thing about my sport:
The competitiveness of it and it’s real fun to play. You learn a lot about life and it’s really valuable to learn about being on a team and working together.

In my future:
I definitely hope to go to college and play basketball. I don’t have a set major yet.

Pre-Game ritual:
I find that being calm and talking to people helps me. I just make sure that I’m feeling
good.

Favorite college team:
I don’t have one, but at my house a lot of times the Iowa Hawkeyes are on, my Dad (Ryan) went there.

Why I play:
It’s a great way to stay active and meet great people. It’s also a fun sport to play and you learn a lot of life skills.
