Haley Vanek, Student-Athlete of the Week

High-school sport:
Lacrosse (attack and draw specialist).

What I’ve done lately:
Scored four goals in a 16-6 victory over Columbine to take the team lead in scoring with 10 goals.

Grade-point average:
3.9.

Class:
Senior.

Class:
Senior.

Why I attend Mullen:
The main reason is my three older siblings (Grant, Michael and Ali) attended Mullen and said a lot of highly rated things about it, and I wanted to go there ever since.

The best thing about my sport:
I think it’s the team aspect and how close we are as a team. I know I can go to teammates with anything and know they’ll be there for me.

In my future:
I’ll be attending Regis (University) and playing lacrosse with a major in biology for a couple of options – dentistry or sports psychology.

Pre-Game ritual:
I really don’t have one, but right before the first draw I always take my stick and tap my left foot and right, and spin it forward and backward.

Favorite college team:
I like supporting the University of Colorado, where my brother and Dad (Ben went.

Why I play:
Honestly, it kind of just keeps me mentally stable. It takes away a lot of stress, I relieve it on the field and recently my mindset is for the glory of God. I’m a very faithful person and I do what I do for God.
