Girls soccer loses a tight one; baseball keeps on rolling; track results from Saturday; and girls lacrosse falls to league leader.
Mullen girls soccer gave up two second-half goals on Tuesday in a 2-1 setback to visiting Arapahoe.
It wrapped up the Centennial League season for Mullen, which is 8-5 overall, and ended 4-3 in the loop. The Mustangs, a Class 4A program playing in the 5A-based Centennial, will complete their regular season with two 4A nonleague foes.
The Mustangs, on Senior Night, also the final home game of the regular season, finished fourth in league. Grandview (11-1-2, 7-0), Cherry Creek (11-3, 6-1) and Arapahoe )9-4-1, 5-2) led the 2022 group.
Mullen, which was tied for third in the Centennial in goals (28) and fourth in goals against (11), led 1-0 at halftime.
Idle until May 5, when it will be at Elizabeth. Mullen will complete regular matches on May 7 in Fort Collins against Liberty Common.

Baseball
In Aurora, the Mustangs had little trouble in beating Overland 18-1 in four innings at Tony Schenbeck Field at Utah Park.
Ranked No. 7 in Class 5A state rankings and No. 6 regardless of classification by MaxPreps, Mullen moved to 12-3 overall, 6-1 in the Centennial League, where it is tied at the top with Cherokee Trail.
Overland is 5-10 overall and winless in league, so Mustangs head coach Phil Stanford said he was able to substitute freely “and others got some work in and (winning pitcher) Owen (Marsh) got to throw.”
Offensively, senior Andrew Brady had a good week on a sunny afternoon – he was 4-for-4 with a double, two triples and a home run for 12 total bases and five runs batted in.
The two teams will meet again on Thursday, April 28, at Mullen’s Bill Swift Field, first pitch at 4:15 p.m.

Track and Field
The Mustangs fared well on Saturday at the Denver East Invitational.
Mullen girls were third and boys seventh.
With 67 team points, Mustangs girls were behind Castle View (85) and Lutheran (76.33). Mullen boys totaled 30 points to winner Denver East’s 95.

Mullen dipped to 3-7 overall and finished 1-5 in league.
The Mustangs will be at Heritage in Littleton on Tuesday, April 28, 6:30 p.m., and finish the regular season at Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs on Saturday, April 30, 11 a.m.
