'Stangs shut down Trailblazers; win 5th in a row

Marsh, Gamueda each have 4 RBIs in 13-3 victory; Mullen remains atop the Centennial with Cherokee Trail; the 2 will meet on Saturday. 
 
Mullen won its fourth game in a row with a 13-3 victory over Overland in 5 innings on Wednesday at Bill Swift Field.

It kept the Mustangs tied at the top of the Class 5A Centennial League with Cherokee Trail at 7-1. Ranked No. 5 regardless of classification, they are 13-3 overall and will host CT on Saturday, April 30, 11 a.m., in the first of a back-to-back. They also will meet on Tuesday, May 3, at CT in Aurora, 4:15 p.m.

The Mustangs rolled to 13 hits, six for extra bases.

Owen Marsh had an interesting box-score line of 2-for-2 with four runs scored and four runs batted in, along with a home run. Dom Gamueda tripled and was 2-for-3 with four RBIS. Andrew Brady, Ben Krza, Colin MacKenzie and Marsh doubled. Krza, MacKenzie and Trevor Moore also both hit safely twice.

As well, head coach Phil Stanford cited starter Henry Stewart’s pitching – no hits or runs, a walk and seven strikeouts over three innings.
