4-29 Spring Roundup

By Neil H. Devlin, Mullen Sports Information Director
On another windy Friday, boys lacrosse keeps control of league; girls tennis completes regular season.

Mullen built a double-digit halftime lead and breezed past host Douglas County in Castle Rock 10-0 on another windy Friday night to remain atop the Class 5A No. 1 League.

It was a rare shutout in boys lacrosse as the Mustangs moved to 6-7 overall, 5-0 in league.

Nicky Bond, Chris Bougie, Luke Dempsey, Ethan Karr and Connor Warren each scored two goals. Jaxon Heil, Toby Grosso, Max Thomason and Jeff Witwer also scored as head coach Matt Cawley was able to substitute freely.

The Mustangs are up by a half-game in the league standings with two to play. They can clinch at least a tie for the No. 1 title with a victory against Eaglecrest on Monday, May 2, 6 p.m., at the Stutler Bowl in Greenwood Village.

Mullen will wrap up its regular season on Wednesday, May 4, 6 p.m., home against Smoky Hill.
