Choi, Zingler again sit atop Centennial
Senior and junior finish 1-2 -- again -- in the league; lots of momentum heading into the postseason.
For the second season in succession, Mullen had the top two girls golfers in the Centennial League.
The only Class 4A team in a 5A-dominated group, the Mustangs’ Sofia Choi repeated as the loop’s top player with Kaitlin Zingler finishing second.
Choi, who also has finished runner-up in the past two 4A Colorado tournaments – there was none when she was a sophomore because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic – will play at Washington University in St. Louis. Zingler is a junior and both the head the all-Centennial League team.
Mullen freshman Sammy Yates finished 15th to earn honorable mention. Another Mustangs freshman, Riley Sullivan, was 19th.
Mullen head coach Kate Walker said she has been extremely pleased with her team heading into the postseason and was adamant that every stroke counts – she has proof as Mullen finished second to Cherry Creek, one stroke ahead (1,681-1,682) of Cherokee Trail. Cherry Creek had 1,646.
