Mullen comes up short in the hills

Mustangs gave up 2 second-half goals, 1 inside 3 minutes, to lose 2-1 at Steamboat Springs in the 2nd round of the Class 4A playoffs; 'Stangs finish 11-6.
 
In Steamboat Springs, Mullen gave up two second-half goals, one in the final 2 minutes on Saturday, in a 2-1 loss to the host Sailors in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs.

The Mustangs, the No. 11 seed, ended 11-6. No. 6 Steamboat Springs (14-2) advanced to next week’s quarterfinals.

Scoreless at halftime, Mullen made it 1-0 in the 41st minute on a goal by Kate Vezzani just 21 seconds into the second.

However, the Sailors leveled it with a score 6 minutes later (by Gwyn Jamison) and won it in the 78th minute on Reina Bomberski’s goal.

Mullen operated in 2022 under interim head coach Matt Degitis.
