Mullen has qualified a full team for the new Class 4A individual state tournament.

To be held in Pueblo at City Park Thursday through Saturday, the Mustangs are represented at each of the three singles lines as well as the four in doubles.

Competition will begin at 9 a.m. each day with playbacks beginning after semifinals on Friday.

It is the first year of the new format – as opposed to previous seasons in which the individuals and teams were crowned in the same field, the first two rounds of the team format have been completed (the Mustangs were eliminated in the second round of the 16-team bracket) and the individual field (16 entries at each line) will be completed by the weekend.

Here are the first-round matches for Mullen players:

No. 1 singles – Jack Barker vs. Owen Duffy, George Washington

No. 2 singles – Patrick Duke vs. Dean Trujillo, Thomas Jefferson

No. 3 singles – Carson Duke vs. Evan Severs, Grand Junction

No. 1 doubles – Nicholas Ruegsegger-Colin Mackenzie vs. Marlow Hampton-Alex Speyer, Evergreen

No. 2 doubles – Aiden Guthrie-John Lenich vs. Trey Mays-Patton Truchel, Evergreen

No. 3 doubles – Jackson Alexander-Josh Wanja vs. Gavin Foonberg-Eddie Strand-George Washington

No. 4 doubles – Liam Cook-Luke Denezza vs. Morgan Parrish-Gabe Hollingshead, University
