Netters take 4-setter in Challenge

Mullen downs Smoky Hill in latest Centennial League Challenge; 'Stangs will complete the league tourney on Thursday, then head to the Springs for a finale in the regular season.
 
Mullen won its latest Centennial League Challenge round in four sets over visiting Smoky Hill on Tuesday at Hutchison Fieldhouse.

The Mustangs won 18-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-18.

In improving to 9-10 overall, the Mustangs also remain within the Class 4A postseason picture that involves 36 teams.

According to head coach Jeff Oliver, “we had three girls out, so we swung up some (junior-varsity) girls. It was a good team win.”

Next for Mullen is a match against Arapahoe to complete the Challenge before capping the regular season in a tournament at World Arena in Colorado Springs on Saturday.
