Mullen splits in 4A regionals -- swept by top-seeded Palmer Ridge and a sweep over Skyview; team finished 13-12, 1st winning record since 2017.
Mullen ended its season on Saturday in the Class 4A regionals.
Competing at top-seeded Palmer Ridge in Monument, the Mustangs were 1-1 in the three-team outlay, getting swept by the host Bears and sweeping Skyview.
Against Palmer Ridge, which is 23-2 and headed to the Colorado tournament, the Mustangs lost 10-25, 12-25, 18-25.
“We played some good volleyball,” according to head coach Jeff Oliver, “but they were just better.”
In the victory against Skyview, Mullen was dominant, winning 25-12, 25-11, 25-14.
The Mustangs finished 2022 13-12, their first winning record since 2017, when they were 15-12.
Mullen was the No. 24 seed and Skyview, which also finished 13-12, No. 36.
