'Stangs to begin winter practice today
Basketball, ice hockey, girls swimming and diving, and wrestling to open drills.
Winter, the second season on the annual school-year docket, begins practice today.
Mullen will field multiple entries in boys and girls basketball, girls swimming and diving, ice hockey, and boys and girls wrestling.
Below are key dates:
Basketball (Mullen in new Class 6A); First scrimmage, Nov. 19; First game, Nov. 28; Regular season ends Feb. 18; Playoffs begin, Feb. 21; Championship, March 11, Denver Coliseum.
Ice hockey: First scrimmage, Nov. 19; First game, Nov. 28; Regular season ends, Feb. 18; Playoffs first round by Feb. 25; Championship, TBA, Ball Arena.
Girls swimming and diving: First scrimmage, Nov. 19; First meet, Nov. 28; Regular season ends, Feb. 4; Championships, Feb. 8-11, VMAC, Thornton.
Wrestling: First scrimmage, Nov. 19; First match, Nov. 28; Regular season ends, Feb. 4; Regionals, Feb. 11; State championships, Feb. 16-18, Ball Arena.
