PREVIEWING CP CURRICULUM:

New Student Success Strategies

Designed specifically for students who have had academic support services in the past and/or those who struggle with executive function skills - especially organization, follow through, work completion, and self advocacy. Students will be introduced to Mullen calendars, expectations, technology, and apps. In addition, they will engage in this quick workshop to learn about themselves as students (readers, test takers, study habits), while becoming familiar with their learning styles, personality traits, and self-advocacy skills. The goal of this two week course is to empower students to learn how they learn, study, and test, and to develop strong success strategies to use as new students and throughout their time as Mullen students.

Jumpstart to Algebra I: 2 weeks

This summer enrichment session is designed to review Pre-Algebra and math foundations. Students will review pre algebra and math foundation concepts and preview topics such as algebraic expressions including those with exponents, radicals, and algebraic fractions, linear equations, systems of linear equations, as well as absolute value, quadratic, and radical equations.

Jumpstart to Science: 2 weeks

This summer enrichment session is a self-paced course designed to preview the scientific math skills taught in the Physical Science Curriculum. Students will learn and practice order of operations, math operations on powers of 10 and conversion between scientific and standard notation. Students will be exposed to the metric system, prefix notation, and unit conversion. Students will learn about significant figures, precision and accuracy.
