Application Process

Step 1: Application

Students must complete the online application to be considered for the next academic year.

Step 2: Assessments

Students must submit academic assessment forms from a current Math teacher, English teacher, and from a Counselor or Administrator. Please have these forms completed by the teachers and sent directly to Mullen High School:

Step 3: Transcripts

Students must submit a transcript release form to their current school. Official transcripts for the previous two years of school, including any standardized tests and the first semester of the current year, must be submitted directly to Mullen. Attendance, immunization, and discipline records should also be included. Applications are only reviewed once transcripts are received.

Step 4: Placement Test - Incoming Freshmen Only

Mullen High School uses the High School Placement Test (HSPT), a national standardized test created for academic placement evaluation. An advantage of taking the test at Mullen is test scores will automatically be added to applicant file.

Testing instructions and details will be sent upon registration.

Final Step: Interview

Each student is required to participate in a personal interview--conducted by the Mullen faculty and administration--in the presence of the students’ parent(s) or guardian.

Incoming Freshmen Applicants

Following the interview will be a required brief writing exercise. After the application deadline, applicants will be notified of their interview time and date. 

Transfer Student Applicants

Applicants are contacted to set up an interview once all application documents have been submitted and reviewed.

*All students who have complete applications will be scheduled for a candidate interview.

  • January 11th, 2020 | 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • January 25th, 2020 | 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Incoming Freshmen Applicants

A Completed Application Includes:

  • The online application for admission
  • Teacher Assessments
    • Math
    • English
    • Counselor / Administrator
  • Transcripts and most recent report card from your current school
  • HSPT Test Scores

Transfer Applicants

Mullen High School accepts transfer students on a space-available basis. Applications are reviewed as they are submitted, and decisions are made as space opens. All transfers are interviewed by a member of the Mullen faculty or administration.

Successful transfer applicants must meet the following criteria for admission:

  • Applicant must be in good standing at their current school.
  • Applicant must have earned sufficient academic credit to graduate with their class under "normal Mullen academic work load."
  • All applicants must complete teacher assessments to include the dean of student assessment.
  • Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
