It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Mullen High School.
The policies, procedures and guidelines at Mullen are designed to educate, promote, and contribute to the Five Core Lasallian Principles of our community.   • Why does Mullen have a Dress & Appearance Code?

    In keeping with the Lasallian Core Principle of Inclusive Community, we maintain a uniform dress and appearance code. Abiding by the Mullen dress code offers students a means to demonstrate their full participation in our school community.

  • What are the basics of 'spirit wear'?

    On a spirit dress day students are allowed to wear jeans, Mullen sweatpants, Mullen t-shirts, and senior spirit overalls, as well as additional Mullen approved clothing.

  • What are the various dress code requirements?

    Regular dress requirements include a Mullen polo (white, navy, gray, pale yellow or pale blue).  Standard colors for pants and shorts include navy, gray, white or khaki.  Outerwear worn over a polo must be Mullen-branded. All footwear must be closed-toed or have a heel strap


     

  • What is acceptable attire for Physical Education?

    • activewear shorts (either 20” long or no shorter than 3” above the knee).

  • What about piercings, tattoos, and hair?

    Body piercings are limited to a small nose stud or hoop.  Hair must be a natural color.  Facial hair for men is limited to a well-groomed neat-looking mustache.  Mullen reserves the right to require students to cover a tattoo that is deemed inappropriate.

  • Who do I notify when I'll be absent?

    Three options:
    -Parent(s) or Guardian(s) can click the "Attendance" Tile to submit your absence.  Absences may be submitted up to 30 days in advance.
    -Parents or guardian(s) can email Attendance@Mullenhigh.com
    -Parent(s) or guardian(s) can leave a message for the Secretary of Attendance (303.761.1266) to notify of your absence.

    The Office of Student Conduct and Attendance is modifying its attendance protocol. To help accommodate families, we will allow a parent/guardian to call as late as 10:00 am.  It’s imperative that OSCA’s attendance records are accurate.  It’s our hope that an additional hour to excuse a student will ensure a more authentic attendance record.  

    Please note that any messaging received after 10:00 am on a particular day will not be accepted.  Students who are not called in by the designated time will be marked ‘absent/tardy unexcused’ and receive an infraction.

  • What if I'm running late?

    If you won't make it to school by the time the bell rings, please check in with the Secretary of Attendance for a tardy slip. Your parent or guardian will need to call and let us know why you're running late. If we don't hear from them, it'll count as an "unexcused tardy" and you'll have to serve detention.

    Tardy students must report to the Attendance Office upon arriving at school and receive a late pass.  Tardy students will not be admitted to class without a late pass. 

    If a student accumulates seven tardies during a semester (whether excused or unexcused), he/she will receive an infraction for excessive tardies with no consequence.  An eighth tardy will result in an official note being created. 

    The consequence for a ninth tardy is being placed on an attendance contract.  After receiving a tenth tardy the following consequences apply: any day a student is on time, he/she does not have detention; any day a student is late, he/she does have detention - on the same day.

  • What do I do if I need to leave early?

    Three options:
    -Parent(s) or guardian(s) can click the "Attendance" Tile to request an early dismissal. 
    -Parents or guardian(s) can email Attendance@Mullenhigh.com
    -Parent(s) or guardian(s) can leave a message for the Secretary of Attendance (303.761.1266) to give advance notice that you'll need to leave early.

    Please note a yellow slip will be delivered to the student once the request has been processed, students may not leave without their slip.  Please allow ample time for the slip to be delivered.

  • What if I'll be absent for a while?

    We really encourage parents/guardians to avoid scheduling family trips or vacations that would result in you, the student, missing school. However, if you need to be absent for 4 or more days, please come collect an "Extended Absence" form from the Office of Student Conduct and Attendance.

  • What is an "excessive" number of absences?

    OSCA will review the records of any student who misses an individual class 10 times or is absent from  50 total classes (7 full days of school) during a particular semester.  Consequences for excessive absences may include attending a Parent-Assistant Principal conference and being placed on an Attendance Contract.  Missing an individual class 15 times could result in a student being withdrawn from the class.

  • What is Truancy?

    "Truancy" is the term we use for students who:
    • come to school but do not report to class
    • leave school without notifying the Secretary of Attendance
    • leave class without permission
    • do not report to a location they asked for permission to report to.
    Truancy will result in immediate notification of the student’s parent or guardian, and the student will be referred to the Dean of Student for further action.

  • Can I attend class virtually (through Zoom)?

    We will only be allowing virtual attendance if the school has called a distance learning day for inclement weather.

  • I'm (finally) a Senior! Can I go off-campus?

    Yes, as long as you and your parent or guardian have completed the electronic permission form. Please remember, though, that this is a privilege and not a right -- it can be taken away!
