Mullen High School proudly celebrates alumna and educator Katie Schneringer ’95, whose commitment to teaching and lifelong learning continues to reflect the mission of Catholic, Lasallian education.
Mullen High School is proud to announce that Katie Schneringer ’95, a dedicated educator and valued member of the Mullen community, has been named a recipient of the Gary Colletti Conference Scholarship from the Bill of Rights Institute (BRI). This national honor recognizes exceptional teachers who demonstrate a deep commitment to students, professional growth, and the teaching profession.

The Gary Colletti Scholarship provides financial support for educators to attend the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) Annual Conference, which took place December 5–7 in Washington, D.C. Katie is one of only 31 educators selected nationwide, highlighting the significance of this achievement.

The scholarship is named in honor of Gary Colletti, a devoted educator and former Director of Teacher and Student Programs at BRI who passed away in 2021. Colletti was known for his passion for teaching, mentorship, and collaboration with fellow educators, values that strongly align with Mullen High School’s Lasallian mission of educating the whole person through faith, service, and excellence.

As a Mullen High School alumna who returned to serve in education, Katie exemplifies the strength of Mullen’s alumni community and the lasting impact of a Catholic, college-preparatory education. Her work in the classroom reflects the values instilled at Mullen, intellectual curiosity, moral leadership, and a commitment to serving others. Being recognized with the Gary Colletti Scholarship underscores her reputation as a strong, student-centered teacher and a lifelong learner.

“Gary always took great pride and a deep sense of fulfillment from supporting teachers,” said Stan Swim, Chief Program Officer at BRI. “With this scholarship, we remember and honor Gary’s commitment to his fellow educators and his generosity of spirit.”

Katie’s recognition brings pride to the entire Mullen High School community and serves as a powerful example of how a private Catholic high school education in the Lasallian tradition prepares graduates not only for professional success, but for meaningful lives of service and leadership.

Mullen High School congratulates Katie Schneringer ’95 on this well-deserved honor and celebrates her continued impact as an educator, alumna, and role model for current Mustangs.
