High school sports: Football (defensive back-safety) and baseball (outfielder).
What I’ve done lately: Had three interceptions over the team’s final two football games, including two in a playoff loss to Mountain Vista the past Friday.
Class: Sophomore
Why I attend Mullen: I go to Mullen because my family has, like, legacy. My dad (Jeff, also head of the football boosters) and uncles went there and I really enjoyed the environment. When I shadowed in eighth grade, I did Mullen and Valor (Christian), and Mullen felt like home to me.
The best things about my sports: It depends on the season … in football, the best thing is it’s the only place where you can hit someone and it’s OK, and it creates a brotherhood. The guys I’ve met and know really became my brothers and some of my best friends on and off the field. And in baseball, it’s the same thing, but calming. I feel like I can be myself and there are so many opportunities in baseball to make up mistakes.
In my future: In the next couple of years, I’m hoping to get a scholarship in one of the two sports, but they will end, so it’s about academics first and I want to get into a good college and get further in life than in sports.
Pre-Game rituals: I’m super-superstitious. In football, I put my left sock on first, then my right one … and for baseball I also have to have my arm sleeve on and get my right wrist taped.
Favorite college teams: University of Colorado football and I’m a huge Ole Miss baseball fan.
Why I play: I play both just to get friends and be in a brotherhood that lasts a lifetime. Sports will end, but these friendships I’ll have in the future for all of my life
